A day out in Brighton
Welcome to Brighton! Brighton's history as a seaside resort goes back to Regency times when the Prince Regent chose Brighton as his retreat from London. The town's most famous building, the Brighton Pavilion, was his legacy to Brighton. Its flamboyant style set the tone for frivolous and fun seaside buildings for years to come.
Brighton has two piers, although the fortunes of the West Pier are now at an all-time low. It seems that even National Lottery money could not save it from disappearing forever into the sunset. Brighton Pier is still thriving, though.
Brighton has always moved with the times as a seaside resort. Its proximity to London earned it the title of "London-by-the-Sea". There is always something for everyone at Brighton, from trendy restaurants to fish and chips and from buckets and spades to beautiful historical buildings.
